Grilled Lamb Chops

How about something a little different on the grill this summer? Grilled lamb chops certainly is something a little different then the traditional hamburgers, hot dogs, Italian sausage, etc. Make this a formal dinner with your family. If you do not have a tablecloth on your table put one on. Add two candles. If you have china set it out as you know you do not use your china enough. As someone famous once said, “Stop saving your china for a special occasion” basically telling you that every day is special.

What you will need:

4 (6 oz each) lamb chops
4 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
Garlic powder
Onion powder
½ cup mint jelly
¼ green pepper jelly

Preheat your grill to 350 degrees. While the grill is preheating, you can trim any excess fat off of the lamb chops. Wash the lamb chops. Next put small cuts in each lamb chop as you will tenderize them. Now place the lamb chops in a tinfoil pan that is safe for the grill after spraying with non-stick cooking oil spray. Cook the chops on medium heat. Put 3 to 4 drops of Worcestershire sauce on each one of the lamb chops. Now sprinkle to taste the garlic powder and the onion powder on each one of the chops. Add the mint jelly and pepper jelly to the chops.

Turn your lamb chops over and repeat all of the spices and jellies on this side. Cover the grill and let the chops cook for about 15 minutes on medium-high heat. Turn your lamb chops over and cook for 10 more minutes. You may need to add more of the mint jelly and pepper jelly.

This recipe will serve four people. Adjust recipe for more people.

Serve this grilled recipe with steamed carrots, cauliflower and a baked potato that is loaded with real butter and sour cream. Add salt and freshly ground pepper to taste. A nice red wine would taste splendid with the grilled lamb chops.

Relax after dinner and let everyone finish their wine before you bring out dessert. Since you prepared a lovely grilled meal with healthy grilled vegetables an easy dessert is deserved. You can serve mint chocolate chip ice cream to your family. Mint chocolate chip ice cream is the perfect way to top off a delicious and unique grilled dinner.

Martinis and Grilling Out for the Fourth of July

If you love martinis they are the perfect 4th of July drink to serve at your cook-out. Most people enjoy a good martini so it is the perfect refreshing drink. Instead of having to stand and bartend at your 4th of July party, you could set out different martini mixes on a picnic table for your guests to make their own concoctions. Here are some ideas.

The original dry martini.

You will need:

2 ounces of gin
¼ oz of Dry Vermouth
Dash of orange bitters
Olive
Shaved ice

Simply add the shaved ice to your tall mixing glass. Pour in the gin and then the dry vermouth. Stir. Add a dash of orange bitters. Stir. Strain and pour into a deliciously chilled martini glass. Garnish with your olive.

If a dry martini is not your forte you can choose to make a sweeter martini. An apple martini may be just what the doctor ordered.

Apple Martini

You will need:

1 oz vodka
1 oz Sour Apple Schnapps
3 ice cubes
1 slice of green apple

To prepare the apple martinis, simply pour the vodka, Sour Apple Schnapps and apple juice into the cocktail shaker. Add the three ice cubes. Stir/shake. Strain and pour into your martini glass. Garnish with a slice of green apple.

You may add the items needed to create raspberry martinis, chocolate martinis and any other flavored martini mixes to create the many different flavored martinis. Make sure you offer virgin martinis for all of the designated drivers. Each person will find the best tasting martini for themselves while you mingle with all of the guests.

Before your guests arrive make sure you have hamburger patties made. You can add spices such as freshly ground pepper, season salt and garlic powder. Fire up the grill and preheat to 350 degrees. Once the grill is preheated, throw on the hamburgers. Stay by the grill and turn often so that neither side burns. About one or two minutes before the hamburger is done, you can add bleu crumbled cheese to the top of the burger.

Your hamburger buns should be buttered. Once the burgers are done you can place the buns on your grill and toast them. Serve immediately. You may want ketchup, mustard, Mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and onion sitting out for guests to add to their burger. Serve with sliced carrot sticks and a fresh salad.

Grilled Steak With Bruschetta Salad

Summertime is here and surely you are firing up your grill often. You may have had steaks a few times, chicken, pork, seafood, etc., on the grill and now it is time to try something a little different. You decide to grill steaks and add the cut up steak into a salad. This is not just any salad, it is scrumptious Bruschetta salad.

Grilled Steak With Bruschetta Salad

What you will need:

1/4 cup apricot preserves
1/4 cup prepared horseradish
1/4 cup creamy Dijon-style mustard blend
2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
4 6-oz. beef tenderloin steaks, cut 1-inch thick
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
12 1/4-inch-thick slices baguette-style French bread
4 cups arugula
1/4 cup bottled roasted red sweet peppers, chopped
1/4 cup crumbled bleu cheese

Fire up your grill. If you have a charcoal grill, wait until the grill is at medium before putting the steaks on. If you are using an electric gas grill turn to 350 degrees. While the grill is preheating, you can make sure all of your apricot preserves are bite size pieces. If not, cut the apricots to mouth size pieces. In a medium bowl combine the apricot preserves, horseradish, Dijon mustard blend and lemon juice. Set the bowl off to the side.

Now you want to sprinkle the steaks on each side with salt and freshly ground pepper. Place the steaks onto the grill directly over the coals. Put the cover onto the grill. Turn the steaks one time. If you like your steaks medium rare then grill for 10 to 12 minutes. If you like your steaks medium you should grill for 12 to 15 minutes.

Grill the sliced French bread for 2 minutes and turn one time. Now take the arugula and split it up among four dinner plates. Place the toasted/grilled French bread onto each plate. Drizzle dressing over the arugula and bread. Slice your steaks julienne style. Place the steak pieces on top of the bread. Now place the red peppers onto the bread and finally the bleu cheese. Sprinkle some of the red peppers and bleu cheese onto the salad as well.

The entire meal will take you 35 minutes to complete. Talk about a quick and easy dinner to prepare after a long day’s work. This is a very refreshing summer meal for you and your family or friends. Enjoy with a glass of red wine, frosted mug of beer or milk.

Proposal to Remember

You have found yourself in love. You want to propose to the girl of your dreams. You want to make the proposal an evening to remember. What can you do to make this a storybook engagement that your future wife will remember for the rest of her life?

The first thing you want to do is to choose a park nearby. Hopefully the park offers horse drawn carriage rides. Choose a romantic spot that people are most likely not to gather around. Preferably choose a place under a large tree.

Pack the items you will need such as a blanket to sit on, a picnic basket filled with foods, a small grill, charcoal, lighter fluid, lighter for the grill, a camera, a poem you wrote about your love for your future wife, money for a carriage ride, plates, forks, two champagne glasses, champagne or wine along with water to drink. Of course remember the engagement ring!

You may want to watch the news and on Wednesday ask your girlfriend if she can go on a date with you on Saturday so that you will be able to see the weather forecast. You do not want to get all ready for the big proposal only to plan it on a day that is full of thunderstorms.

Pack all of your items in the trunk so your girlfriend does not have a clue. Once she sees the picnic basket, blanket, food, etc., she will be thrilled that you have planned such a lovely afternoon. Little does she know she is about to be proposed to.

Find your romantic spot and get your girlfriend all cozy on the blanket. Pour her a glass of champagne or wine. You can fire up the little grill you brought. You can prepare chicken on the grill, salmon or hamburgers. While the food is cooking you can take photos of your girl. She will want to put them in a scrapbook for the special proposal day to remember forever and share with friends and family.

Once your meat is done on the grill the two of you can eat. Make sure you brought tuna salad or potato salad to go along with the meat. If you do not feel like making one of the salads you can pick it up ahead of time at your local deli.

After the meal is done, take a romantic walk. Find the carriage rides and go for a peaceful ride preferably at sunset. While the two of you are cuddling on the carriage, it is now the perfect time to read your poem to her. Following the poem on how much you love and adore her, you can ask her to marry you. Pull out the ring and when she says “yes” youj can place it on her finger.

Congrats!

Marinating Tips for Foods on Your Grill

Add extra flavor to your grilled meats. When you marinate meats you also help to tenderize the meat you are about to grill.

What ingredients should be in a marinade? You should have vinegar or wine which is an acidic ingredient, extra virgin olive oil (or another type of oil, but this is the most healthy) and seasonings. If you do not have vinegar or wine you may use citrus fruit juices in place of it. You do not want to leave out the acidic ingredient because this is what helps to tenderize the meat.

Marinating Tips

Make sure you cover the entire piece of meat with the marinade for best results. If you already have tender cuts of meat such as beef you only need to marinate the meat for two hours or less. If you have a tough cut of meat you should let it sit overnight or at least three or more hours during the day for best results.

Make sure you marinate your meat in the refrigerator. You do not want to end up with food poisoning from leaving your meat out. When you do make your marinade place it in a glass bowl, plastic bowl or a sealed plastic bag. Never use a metal bowl due to the acidic ingredient.

If you plan on using a marinade that has sugar or tomato in it, put it on the meat when you are almost done grilling it. If you put it on too early your meat will most likely burn.

If there is oil or butter in your marinade be cautious as this can cause fire flare-ups when on the grill.

Do you want to shorten the grilling time of your meat? Marinade it for twelve hours and it will lower the grilling time by 30%.

Do you have left-over marinade that the meat was in? Never reuse it on another piece of raw meat at a later date as there is bacteria from the meat in the marinade.

Enjoy your grilled meat! You can use marinades on chicken, beef, pork, etc. Try different marinades for different flavors of meat.

Grill Party Before Concert

It is summertime and it is time to hit the concerts of famous bands. You and your friends love to see all of your favorite bands during the summer months. It is time to let loose and have a great time.

Before you had to the band concert why not get some good grilled food in your bellies? You can invite your buddies over to your house for a cook-out before the concert. If the concert serves beer it is a good idea to get plenty of food in everyone’s stomach so no one gets drunk. No one wants to miss the concert due to getting sick or passing out as well. Surely no one wants to get a driving while intoxicated ticket or worse– a car accident.

Serve big hamburgers that you grilled. Buy hamburger buns from the deli that are more filling and tasty then the regular small store brands. Have chopped lettuce available as well as plenty of sliced onion, pickles, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard and tomatoes. If you are feeling really generous you could grill bacon to put on the hamburgers.

Make a bow-tie spinach salad to go with the grilled hamburgers.

Bow-tie Spinach Salad

What you will need:

1 pound fresh spinach
½ pound of romaine lettuce, chopped
½ head of lettuce, chopped
1 pound bow-tie noodles
1 red pepper, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 yellow pepper, chopped
1 purple or white onion, chopped
2 stalks of celery, chopped
1 can of pitted large black olives, sliced
1 tomato, diced
5 ounces of sharp cheddar cheese, cubed
5 ounces of mozzarella cheese, cubed
½ bottle of your favorite dressing
Fresh ground pepper

Recommendations: Choose one-creamy blue cheese dressing with crumbled blue cheese; sun-dried tomato; your favorite Italian dressing or Toasted Asian dressing.

Add all ingredients to a very large bowl except the dressing. Once the ingredients are mixed up well, add the salad dressing of your choice. Mix well. Place fresh ground pepper on salad to taste. Chill for at least 30 minutes. Delicious and healthy!

Other foods you may serve with the grilled hamburgers include a tuna salad, any type of chips you and your friends enjoy, French fries, chopped fruit, cut up vegetables and dip and of course brownies or another easy dessert.

Have a great time at the concert after a fantastic grilled meal with side dishes.

Grilled Low-Carb Foods

If you are counting your carbs there are plenty of grilled foods you can cook. You may be counting carbs to stay in shape, to lose weight or due to diabetes or another health issue.

As long as meats do not have breading on them, there are no carbs. You can enjoy many different types of meats on the grill. Load up on the protein!

Grill fresh fruits. Remember that some fruits do have carbs in them. Opt for low carb fruits or no carb fruits. After all, if you eat fruits with no carbs in them, you can get your carbs from another food. You may want a baked potato. This is fine as long as you choose a medium sized potato, eat a portion sized piece of meat and load up on vegetables without carbs or low carbs. Yes, there are even vegetables that have carbs in them.

If you do not know how many carbs are in a meal, simply look it up on the Internet. You will find the size/weight of each piece of food with the amount of carbs listed. When you are counting your carbs, make sure you figure out the amount of food you are allowed to eat ahead of time. You do not want to be surprised and feel guilty afterwards especially if you have been working very hard at eating low carb meals.

You may also buy a book regarding counting carbs or check out your local library for a book that gives information on foods and the amount of carbohydrates each type has.

Have fun grilling different low-carb chicken recipes. You can grill with your favorite barbeque sauce. You may want to add bourbon to your barbeque sauce as it will add pizazz to your chicken and there are no carbs in it. Use our superb spices on your chicken for extra added flavor.

Hamburgers with bacon on are low carb. Eat your hamburger without a bun or eat it with a wholegrain bun as they are much healthier for you. Add lettuce, tomato and onion for an even more delicious grilled hamburger.

To eat as healthy as possible remember to only eat foods that are not processed. This means to only eat foods that are fresh, not foods that come in a box.

Grilling for Grandparents

If your grandparents use a walker or are in a wheelchair, surely they have a difficult time making meals. Your grandparents have probably given up using their grill. If you ask your grandparents if they miss grilled food, you will probably get a big “yes!” Your grandma or grandpa will then probably tell you that it is too difficult to use the grill. Your grandparents may rarely go outdoors due to being worried that they may fall down and break a hip.

You can change your grandparents’ lives for the better. You can grill some food for them. If they still have a grill at their home simply use theirs. If not, you may want to buy them a little grill that will fit enough food for two people. If your grandmother or grandfather is living alone, you still want to buy a grill big enough for at least two people to share a meal. You can stay with your grandparent so he/she has some company when eating the delicious grilled meal you prepared. You can also grill extra food so that he or she has some food to easily warm up in the microwave to get that succulent grilled flavor. Also, you will make meal time simple for your grandparent. Another great reason to do this is because many elderly people eat too much boxed foods due to their simplicity of cooking. Meals should not be primarily processed foods for anyone.

Do you think you have to grill a gourmet meal for your grandparents? Absolutely not. You can grill whatever you want but a simple hamburger will be much appreciated.

If you are using a gas grill, while you have the grill on, you may choose to make a couple of extra hamburgers so that there will be leftovers, as mentioned above. You may decide to put chicken on the grill as well. Put spices on the chicken for extra flavor. Grill a few baked potatoes so that your beloved family will have real natural food. Surely your grandparents will truly enjoy your thoughtfulness and flavorful grilled foods.

Wrap foods up and place in the refrigerator for your grandparents. You may want to even put the potato and piece of chicken on a plate with a cover over it so that the food only needs to be heated up in the microwave.
