About Shurtape

Shurtape Technologies grew out of Shuford Mills, a longtime maker of textile yarns and a world leading manufacturer of cordage and twine. In 1955, Shuford Mills management started a tape division to capture a growing demand for basic crepe and flat back paper tapes – the stuff everyone knows as masking tape. That year we opened a small pilot plant tucked into a corner of the larger Shuford Mills factory in Hickory, North Carolina.

Today, Shurtape has fully embraced its future as a global company. Late in 2004 Shurtape opened a new distribution center in Catawba, North Carolina that gives us additional capacity and allows us to turn orders even faster than before – for our domestic and international markets.

We also made key acquisitions in 2004 by purchasing Tape Specialties Ltd. and the Arts and Entertainment division of Permacel Inc. In addition to those milestones, Shurtape has invested substantially in revitalizing our brand. We’ve established a distinct look and feel – a fresh identity that represents what and who we are: a creative, bold and forward looking company. Dedicated to building strong relationships worldwide. And always evolving to make the best pressure sensitive tapes in the world.
