Their welding classes, hosted at a workshop where they cap the class size in order to ensure everyone gets enough hands on time to weld, pairs students together so that they can learn together, while Kelly and Travis offer instruction and encouragement. By the end of the day, students create a custom bench. Classes conclude with beer and a BBQ.

Motor Sports Welding Program Offers New Opportunities
“Pit Weld U Powered by Miller Welders is a state-licensed welding course for individuals interested in a career as a fabricator/welder in the motorsports industry, or in many other fields where expert metal workers are needed. The students learned about welding safety, metal cutting processes and MIG and TIG welding disciplines while in the program. Their time was heavily focused on hands-on training that involved completing welding projects on a variety of different metals helping to become knowledgeable in real-world applications.”
New Welding Program Offered
“Chris Posey grew up welding in his father’s shop in Nectar and never lost the love for the profession. Posey is now sharing his welding expertise and passion to Wallace State-Oneonta students as the campus’ welding instructor.
‘I love doing this. I love it because the program is new and it’s a new opportunity for me. I’m interested to see how this program grows and to grow along with it,’ said Posey, 39, a Wallace State welding graduate.”
Pennsylvania College’s Welding Program Grows
“The Pennsylvania College of Technology board of trustees voted in unanimous approval to accept a $2 million grant from the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce during its board meeting on Thursday.
Provided that the grant is awarded to the college and all of its conditions are met, the EDA grant would require a cash match of $3 million from the college to expand its welding facility by 22,000 square feet, according to the press release from the college. The board also voted in unanimous approval of matching the $3 million, provided that the federal grant is awarded to the college.”

“Firefighters extinguished a blaze at an Edith Avenue home workshop Sunday morning that caused about $50,000 worth of damage, officials said.
The owner of the workshop was welding on a vehicle when sparks flew started the fire, according to Walla Walla Fire Department Capt. John Knowles.”
