Weekly Welding Roundup–Welding News
When the students at the McFarland High School welding class need a project for their class, they look to the needs of the community and local businesses. That’s where McFarland Unified provided an excellent opportunity for the class. McFarland Unified, which trains teachers, is in the process of renovating a brand new education center in a former elementary school, but the building needed a sign.
Students at McFarland High School developed a custom sign that incorporates the education group’s logo and name with bold letters that will be highly visible for teachers who attend the center.

New PA Welding Lab Aims to Meet Job Demands
“Welders are in demand. The American Welding society estimates a shortage of 400,000 welders nationwide by 2024. ‘Between machinists and welders, they’re clamoring for people,’ said Executive Director of Bethlehem Area Vo-Tech Adam Lazarchak.
According to the Bureau of Labor statistics, Pennsylvania is one of the top five states for welder employment, which is why Bethlehem Vo-Tech just installed a new $1.3 million welding lab. ‘The old lab had 16 welding booths. The new one allows us 20 work stations with a maximum – we can increase it up to 23 work stations,’ said Lazarchak.”
